Its a nicely heavy piece, well made but not as heavy as cast iron. It worked well on our glass stove top that has a double burner. I would have liked the cook surface on the base (that conducts the heat) to be bigger than it is. This was quite clearly pictured on the page so not a surprise. Have successfully cooked pancakes and porterhouse steaks. The sale price made it worth while.
