We have one these retro 50s theme coffee machines. Make superb coffee every single day. My wife has embarked on. sMEG kitchen. So far, 2 Kettles ( small and large). Toaster, coffee flasks/cups, knife sets with block, kitchen bin, bread container. Eventually cook top, fridge & whatever there is :-)

I’m definitely no barista but I love this machine! It’s super cute, awesome choice in colours, beautiful design but most importantly makes a lovely coffee. Our old breville finally died and I hadn’t been happy with friends newer ones coffees. They seemed to always have problems. So I made the decision to change it up. At first I was absolutely terrible at spinning the milk and it was really loud. I haven’t quite got the hang of it yet but no more screechy sounds. My pic is soy milk and I’ve also done a couple with almond and oat. It’s just practice. I was a bit put off from a couple reviews, but in my case I think it’s just the user rather than a faulty machine as it’s just different from what I’m used to. The drip tray and coffee grind catcher bit are great and easy to clean, there is a huge water tank for when you have to make a bunch at a time, the tamper is nice and heavy. The two steamer functions make it easy to get the jug in place so no huge splashes like other machines. It does its own thing with doing different rhythms but I don’t think it makes it better or worse. The grind is really easy to adjust. Not sure if it’s me with a new machine, but it seems to go through beans a bit more than my last one. It’s definitely something people notice straight away when they walk in…she’s just so pretty!

I purchased this machine because I have a smeg toaster and kettle and wanted to match the colours. What a mistake that was. it is almost impossible to accurately fill the filter with coffee and be able to fit the portafilter to the machine. the level of grinds in the filter has to be exactly the right amount. BUT it isnt set to the top level of the filter is it NO its set at a level of the second line on the tamper when the tamper is inside the filter. this is so hard to get right its not funny. a few grains of coffee too many and it wont fit in the machine so you scrape a bit off and then its too loose. My last machine you filled the filter to the brim, tamped it then topped it up if necessary and then scraped the top of the filter off and then easily fit the thing in the machine every time. This piece of rubbish, I have yet to get it right on the first attempt. I have given my old machine away to a friend and they are so happy with it and I am unfortunately stuck with this stupid thing. I regret buying this SMEG so much.Once i have saved up enough for a new machine i will be buying something else NOT a SMEG. in hindsight i should have just bought some green paint and painted my 10 yr old machine
