I have never been so outraged, disappointed and angry over a product purchased from Myer. The product arrived by post and was flat-packed. We knew that it did not include globes, so we went out and spent an additional $80 on the E14 globes. My husband and I are experienced assemblers and although there were only the flimsiest pictorial diagrams for instructions, we were not worried. We removed the product from the box, went to move the first chandelier arm into place, and it snapped into two pieces. It turned out that each of the chandelier arms required an open-ended 14mm wrench and pliers to move the arms into place. This was not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. As the chandelier is entirely made of plastic, our only repair option was super glue. We thought that this had worked, but it didn’t. We are now faced with the decision of whether to harass Myer for another dodgy, crap replacement chandelier, or try to remove the broken arm and turn it into a 4-arm light. I’m completely devastated that my vision of an elegant black chandelier has turned into such a nightmare, and cost us nearly $200 for the misery. I just cannot believe that a reputable store like Myer would be associated with such a poor quality product. The only instructions were to have it installed by an electrician, but our problems were well before the installation stage. If you must buy this chandelier, please note our instructions about the wrench and pliers or you will certainly be headed for a similar disaster.
