High-quality & rewarding build for 7 yr old!
The Tortured Soccer Mom — 5 out of 5 stars
LEGO mom that’s incredibly proud of my 7-year-old son, who took on this massive 2,842-piece World Cup Trophy set entirely on his own! I highly value how LEGO provides active cognitive engagement—cultivating spatial reasoning, geometric mapping, and critical problem-solving skills. It is the ultimate screen-free alternative, offering that refreshing, old-school tactile play where kids build resilience and focus through working with their hands. He is a soccer player and absolutely loves everything about the sport, so building this was a true labor of love. He didn’t rush it for speed instead, he paced himself beautifully over about a week and a half after was entirely glued to the games! He even had fun recording videos of his building process along the way. He will willingly tell you he did make one mistake along the way and had to carefully backtrack to rebuild the top outer round section of the trophy, but he didn't give up. Finishing this trophy felt like him winning his very own World Cup! It is a really cool, substantial, and heavy build when finished! The details, colors, and inside player are really cool. I wouldn’t say the entire set is a play piece, it’s more a display piece, especially for him. He also built a few of the LEGO Edition FIFA sets like CR7/ Ronaldo pose-able and the Edition Soccer Ball set, which in my option looked even more complex to me with its spherical shape, but not for him. He just loves to build. He already has his sights set on wanting to tackle the 10k piece Eiffel Tower next. Watch out LEGO, he is working his way up to becoming a future Expert Builder!

Man this took months to finish! Had a few missing pieces to start which delayed the build. Got about halfway through and lost interest once the World Cup fever faded. Building this was extremely relative and very difficult! I would say without the mobile app it was nearly impossible to get through. So many similar pieces and hard to reference with all the gold. The finished build is fairly cool but this was torture to build. I find it hard to believe many of these reviews are real. Sure maybe during the matches it was cool but beyond difficult and tedious.
