Having had my second ghd for about 10 years (don't know how long, but a long time!) It didn't need replacing, but I researched the new model with the trade in promo. The research suggested technology has indeed advanced, and the newer models offer better head-reading/dispersal with less hair damage, more shine noted and less frizz. I have definitely noticed less frizz with two uses across the month of ownership. I have blonde (foiled) curly hair which is straightened once a week after it's washed, and I live in one of Australia's most tropical climates.
